What we can help with
- Bat removal: bats in the attic, walls or chimney, and what to do about a bat inside the house
- Raccoon removal: raccoons in attics, chimneys and crawl spaces
- Skunk removal: skunks under decks, porches and sheds
- Squirrel removal: squirrels in the attic, soffits and walls
- Attic cleanup: droppings, nesting material and damaged insulation after the animals are gone
- Entry-point sealing: closing the gaps so animals can't get back in
How it works
- Call or send the form. Tell us what you're hearing or seeing and where.
- A local professional calls you back. We pass your details to an independent wildlife control professional who serves the Grand Rapids area.
- They inspect and give you a plan. In most homes the work happens in three parts: get the animals out, seal the way they got in, then clean up what they left behind. The professional sets the price after seeing the job.
Before anyone arrives
- A bat is loose in a room and nobody touched it. Close the interior doors, turn off the lights and open a window to the outside so it can leave on its own. That's the Michigan DNR's advice.
- Someone may have had contact with a bat, including a bat found in a room where someone was sleeping. Don't let it go. Safely contain it and call the Kent County Health Department at 616-632-7228. They decide whether the bat should be tested. In Michigan, rabies shows up most often in bats.
- An animal is in the attic or walls. Don't try to handle it, and keep pets away. Note where you hear it and what time of day. That helps the inspection.
Michigan's rules, in plain English
Wildlife removal in Michigan has rules, and a good professional works within them.
- Bats are protected. The fix is exclusion: one-way doors that let bats out but not back in, then sealing the gaps.
- Timing matters for bats. The DNR advises avoiding exclusion from May through mid-August, when young bats can't fly yet and could be trapped inside.
- No "trap and relocate" for raccoons, squirrels or skunks. The DNR does not authorize live capture and release of these animals. The goal is to get them out of the building and keep them out.
